Sabrina Carpenter now has a court order keeping an alleged stalker 100 yards from her front door, after she told a Los Angeles judge that a man tried to force his way into her home and kept coming back.
A Los Angeles County judge granted the temporary restraining order this week, according to court filings. In a signed declaration obtained by Rolling Stone, Carpenter, 27, said a 31-year-old man showed up at her home uninvited, falsely claiming he knew her and was expected there.
During a May 23 incident she called “deeply alarming,” Carpenter said the man cut through a neighbor’s yard to get around her security fence and pushed down on her locked front-door lever. He stayed until police arrived and arrested him, she said. He allegedly returned twice more, once parking outside to watch the house.
“His pattern of stalking, trespassing, and surveillance has caused me severe and ongoing emotional distress, and I am in fear what he may do if he is not restrained by this court,” Carpenter wrote.
An LAPD detective wrote in a supporting declaration that the man’s conduct, which may have started around April 20, reflected “the hallmarks of a fixated, obsessional individual.” The order also covers her car, her workplace, and an older sister who lives with her.
A hearing on extending the order is set for June 17. He is due in criminal court the next day.
