Sitting down with Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper, the woman formerly known as Posh Spice delivered a masterclass in composed defiance.
When asked how she and David Beckham managed to outrun decades of infidelity rumors, most notably the Rebecca Loos shaped nuclear blast of 2004, Victoria did not flinch. She went for the jugular with a smile.
“Do you know, we’ve had so much thrown at us,” Victoria said, her voice crackling with a mix of ice and fire. “We’d just celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary, and by the way, people said it wouldn’t work. Twenty-six years!”
The storm she’s referring to is the stuff of tabloid legend. In 2004, David’s former assistant, Rebecca Loos, set the world on fire with claims of a four month affair during his stint at Real Madrid.
The alleged hotel trysts and late night calls nearly dismantled Brand Beckham in real time. While Victoria avoided giving Loos the satisfaction of a name drop, she did not sugarcoat the trauma.
“It was the hardest period of my life,” she confessed, echoing the raw honesty seen in the couple’s Netflix docuseries. “It felt like the world was against us… and honestly, we were against each other. It was a nightmare. A circus. And everyone loves a circus, unless you’re in it.”
The designer admitted she spent that era in a state of resentment, calling it “the most unhappy I’ve ever been.”
That unhappiness was likely reignited just last year when a resurfaced Loos sat down for a 60 Minutes Australia special, doubling down on her claims and calling herself brave for taking on the media’s most powerful couple. “All I had was the truth,” Loos insisted, a line that clearly did not age well in the Beckham household.
But Victoria is not interested in Loos’ version of the truth. She’s interested in the legacy of her marriage. Switching from the “nightmare” to the “naughty,” she giggled while recounting the early days of sneaking David into Spice Girls tour hotels, a move that once forced the soccer icon to literally jump out of a window to avoid being caught.
“He had to skip training because of the blisters on his feet, the walk of shame!” she laughed, painting a picture of a man who has “never been insecure” about her massive success.
Twenty-six years later, Victoria is making it clear: the storm might have been “damn” loud, but the Beckhams are still standing on the deck.
