The peace treaty between Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez has officially expired.
The two beauty moguls — both forever linked by Justin Bieber — are once again circling the same storyline. This includes mutual interviews, subtle digs, and one deleted Instagram post that said it all.
In her WSJ. Magazine interview, Hailey, 28, was asked how it feels to sell her Rhode line next to Gomez’s Rare Beauty inside Sephora. Her response? A masterclass in shade.
“I think there’s space for everybody,” she said — before adding, “I don’t feel competitive with people that I’m not inspired by.”
Let’s just say, no one needed a translator.
When the interviewer pushed about potential comparisons between the two brands, Hailey’s publicist reportedly cut her off. The model later said, “It’s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn’t ask for that.”
But by then, the internet had already decided: she wasn’t just talking about “people.” She was talking about Selena.
The Return of Rare Shade
Hailey’s comments dropped hours before Rhode officially launched at Sephora. Within days, Selena, 33, fired back in her signature “kill them with kindness” style.
In a now-deleted Instagram Story, the newlywed wrote:
“Just leave the girl alone. She can say whatever she wants. Doesn’t affect my life whatsoever. It’s about relevance, not intelligence. Be kind. All brands inspire me. There’s room for everyone.”
Translation? Nice try, Hailey — but we see you.
From “All Love” to All Over Again
The exchange marks the latest installment in a feud that’s outlived more than one relationship.
The tension goes all the way back to 2018. That was when Justin traded in his on-again, off-again romance with Gomez for a quick engagement — and marriage — to Hailey.
For a brief moment last year, fans thought the drama had died. The two women followed each other on Instagram, posed for photos at the Academy Museum Gala, and publicly called for peace.
Hailey “liked” Selena’s engagement post to Benny Blanco; Selena returned the favor with a Vogue cover like.
Fast-forward to now, and that “mutual respect era” is officially over. Both unfollowed each other this summer. Additionally, Hailey’s new interview seems to have reignited every old headline.
Hailey’s Side of the Story
Reps for Hailey insist her comments weren’t about Selena at all. But fans aren’t buying it — especially since this all went down just days before Rhode hit Sephora shelves next to Rare Beauty.
Hailey’s previously called the ongoing fan theories “vile,” “disgusting,” and “dangerous.” She says the constant narrative of “two women fighting over a man” is both false and exhausting.
“I’ve hated it since the beginning,” she said last year. “There is no issue, and it’s so disappointing that people still behave this way over a man.”
Still, the timing of her “not inspired” comment — right as Rhode launched at Sephora — definitely raised a few eyebrows.
