Zahara Jolie has gone by one name since 2023. Now she wants a judge to make it the only one that counts.
Zahara, 21, filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court to legally change her name to “Zahara Marley Jolie,” dropping “Pitt,” according to documents obtained by TMZ. In Touch first reported the filing. She gave no reason in the paperwork and is due back in court Sept. 28 to explain the request to a judge.
The filing formalizes something Zahara has done in plain sight for years. She introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie when she joined Spelman College’s Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter in 2023, and “Pitt” was absent from her graduation program when she collected a psychology degree last month.
She is the fourth of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s six children to step away from his surname. Shiloh filed on her 18th birthday in 2024. Maddox, 24, filed his own petition just weeks ago.
Pitt, 62, did not attend Zahara’s graduation last month, and sources told TMZ he was never contacted about the ceremony. Representatives for Pitt and Jolie have not commented on the filing.
