The “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans” tagline drew immediate backlash, with critics reading the pun as something more than a fashion line. Sydney Sweeney has not commented. American Eagle has not commented.
Trent Sweeney, Sydney’s brother and a U.S. Air Force staff sergeant, posted his promotion certificate to Instagram with a one-line caption:
“It’s them good jeans 🥸.”
The caption is a direct echo of the campaign’s tagline.
