Coachella 2026 marked a triumphant return for Madonna. Joining Sabrina Carpenter on stage for a ‘Vogue’ and ‘Like a Prayer’ mashup, the Queen of Pop brought the archives.
But by 1:30 a.m. Saturday, that history was gone.
Two bags of Madonna’s stage wardrobe were last seen on a golf cart en route to a tour bus. Staff didn’t notice they were missing until they got to the hotel.
Madonna is one of the most tightly managed figures in pop music, and her archive disappeared in transit, in the dark, at a festival.
The contents date to the ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’ era, 2005-2006:
- Vintage purple biker jacket, Gucci by Tom Ford
- Lavender silk corset from Madonna’s personal archive
- Thigh-high lace-up boots
- Custom crossover jewelry suite
Vintage from this era already commands high resale. Anything with Madonna’s stage history attached sits in a different bracket entirely.
Indio police say there is currently no evidence of intentional theft, suggesting the bags may have fallen during transport.
Madonna has launched a digital search effort, offering an unspecified reward to anyone with information about the missing archives.
